What to expect at Mini Makers.

Coming somewhere new with a little person is always easier when you know what to expect. Mini Makers is designed to be relaxed, welcoming and fun, so here are the practical bits before your first class.

Before you come

Three little things to know.

Wear

Dress for a little mess.

Please bring your child in something you don't mind getting creative in. We use child-friendly materials, but paint, glue and small children have an impressive ability to travel.

Bring

Your usual essentials.

Water, wipes and anything else your child normally needs. We'll provide all of the art and craft materials.

Leave

The craft supplies at home.

Everything for the session will be laid out and ready when you arrive. You just need to bring your little maker.

Arriving

When you arrive.

Come in, get settled and give your child a little time to look around.

They don't need to join in immediately. Some children want to get stuck straight in and others prefer to watch for a while first. Both are absolutely fine!

We begin with a short introduction to the week's theme before moving into the creative activities. You stay with your child throughout and can help as much or as little as they need.

Going home

At the end.

Every child gets to take home what they have made.

We'll deal with setting everything up and clearing away the big mess afterwards.

Which, we think, is one of the best things about doing crafts somewhere other than your own kitchen table!

Good to know

The practical bits.

Class length.

Sessions run for 60 minutes.

Siblings and babies.

Babes in arms are welcome and do not need a ticket. If you would like to bring another child who will take part, email themakery@spence.org.uk and we can arrange an additional sibling ticket.

Hot drinks.

One supervising adult is included in the ticket price, along with a hot drink.

Getting there.

Access is via a narrow country lane with passing places, so please drive slowly. There is parking on the driveway for around eight cars. Cars may be blocked in during the class, as everyone leaves at roughly the same time.
